A group of students from robotics programme of Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) embarked on an enriching international exchange program to Thailand. During this program, the students visited two esteemed institutions, Naresuan University (NU) and King Mongkut University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB) to conduct a series of hands-on robotics workshops specifically designed for secondary school students in April 2025.
The workshops focused on introducing the students to the exciting world of robotics, with a special emphasis on Arduino microcontroller systems and programming using the mBlock software platform. Through a combination of engaging demonstrations, guided assembly activities, and interactive coding sessions, participants were given a practical and accessible introduction to basic robotics and programming concepts. These workshops attracted the participation of over 100 secondary school pupils, all eager to explore the field of robotics and develop new technical skills.
This collaboration initiative with MMU partner Universities proved to be an excellent platform for the MMU students, not only to share their technical knowledge but also to cultivate essential soft skills such as teaching, teamwork, and cross-cultural communication. Working closely with students and faculty members from Thailand provided them with invaluable insights into diverse educational practices and cultural perspectives, further broadening their horizons and global outlook.
Overall, the program served as a meaningful learning experience for both the MMU students and the local secondary school participants. It fostered greater international collaboration, promoted knowledge-sharing across borders, and laid the foundation for future partnerships between the participating institutions. The success of this community service-based exchange program highlights the value of experiential learning and international engagement in shaping well-rounded, globally competent graduates.
