A group of 35 enthusiastic international students and six lecturers participated in a meaningful educational trip to the National Museum in Kuala Lumpur on 5 May 2025. The trip aimed to enrich and deepen their understanding of Malaysia’s rich historical and cultural heritage.
The visit offered the students a unique opportunity to explore the nation’s past through curated exhibits and expert guidance. Upon arrival at the museum, the group was warmly welcomed by three knowledgeable and engaging tour guides: Mr. Jerry Loh, Ms. Dora, and Madam Lam. They led the students through the museum’s diverse galleries, each focusing on significant periods and themes in Malaysia’s history.
From the moment they arrived, excitement filled the air. Each gallery transported the students through time, from the prehistoric era and early Malay kingdoms to the colonial period and Malaysia’s path to independence. The engaging guides provided insightful commentary, helping students draw connections between classroom learning and real-world artifacts.
The group also visited the majestic National Mosque, where Muslim students performed their Dhuhr (midday) prayers. Non-Muslim students and staff took the opportunity to appreciate the mosque’s elegant architecture and serene ambiance.
Following the mosque visit, the group proceeded to the iconic Central Market for lunch. Students enjoyed a variety of local dishes while exploring the vibrant marketplace, known for its cultural arts, handicrafts, and historic charm.
The students expressed that the trip was informative, enjoyable, and memorable, reinforcing the value of experiential learning outside the classroom in igniting curiosity and fostering appreciation for culture, history, and heritage.
