Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, the President of Multimedia University (MMU) officiated the 2021 Converged Telecommunications Policy and Regulations (CTPR) Master Class in a virtual ceremony on 14th October 2021. The ceremony was also graced by the presence of Tan Sri Dr. Halim Shafie, Chairman of MSD Innovation & Board Member of Axiata Group. Tan Sri Dr. Halim, who is the former Chairman of Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and our former pro-chancellor, shared the story behind CTPR during the ceremony. Also attending were Mr. Shamshul Izhan Abdul Majid, Chief Technology & Innovation Officer, MCMC; Mr. Niall Magennis, Senior Director, Capacity Building of Global System for Mobile Communication (GSMA) London, representatives from MCMC as well as participants of the master class.

The CTPR Master Class is a professional programme to assist stakeholders in the Communications and Multimedia industry to address knowledge gaps related to regulations and policymaking for an industry that is constantly changing due to technological advances and the increasing consumption of digital multimedia and concerns around the technological advances. The participants will be provided with online access to a learning platform by GSMA trainers, for a duration of four weeks per module with the accompaniment of Online Forum Sessions by MMU, MCMC and industry speakers. There are five modules for the Master Class namely Leveraging Mobile to Achieve SDG Targets, Spectrum Management for Mobile Telecommunications, Big Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence for Impact, Bridging the Mobile Gender Gap, and Competition Policy in the Digital Age.
