Multimedia University (MMU) is appointed as a strategic partner in the 2021 Selangor Youth Skills (SYS) competition, which will be organised from 22 until 26 September 2021. The competition is organised by the Selangor government in collaboration with   the State Sports Council (MSN).

A launching ceremony was held on 20th August 2021, and Dr. Mohd Fairuz Abd Rahim, Dean of the Faculty of Management (FOM) and Dr. Lim Kok Yoong, Dean of the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) attended the event as MMU representatives. The event was graced by State Executive Councillor for Youth and Sports, Mohd. Khairuddin Othman.

The five-day online competition aimed to unearth talent and innovative ideas from youths in various sectors, which offers RM100,000 worth of cash prizes. The competition also received a total of 500 entries from all over Malaysia since the registration was opened on 1st August 2021.

With its theme ‘Future Sports Innovations’, participants will compete in 10 different skills categories namely animation creation, hackathon, fashion technology, furniture making, terrarium design, architecture modelling, graphic technology, short film and video making, social media marketing, and song composition.

As  the strategic partner, the university is represented by faculty deans as the jury for the competition in September 2021. They are Dr. Mohd Fairuz Abd Rahim; Dr. Lim Kok Yoong; Ts. Dr. Junaidi Bin Abdullah, Dean of Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) and Ts. Amir Shahlan Bin Amiruddin, Dean of Faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA).
