Our students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) namely Alvin Chong Ming Song, Chan Si Min and Saif Ullah Iqbal with their mentor, Dr. Yeo Boon Chin won the first runner up at the Software Innovation Programming Competition (PROCOM) at Cyberjaya campus recently. The team with their project on an Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) beat the other eight teams from other varsities in the finals.

With its theme, “Invigorating Local Community Through ICT”, the competition was co-organised by the Faculty of Computing & Informatics (FCI) and the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) with The Chinese Weekly. The competition is based on the Japan Technical College Programming Contest or KOSEN PROCON module, that is authorised by Nourishment Association for Programming Contest KOSEN from Japan (NAPROCK).

The opening event was graced by Prof. Ir. Dr. Hairul Azhar, Vice President of Research & Innovation; Dr. Ho Chiung Ching, Dean of FCI; a representative from Japan Embassy, the industry sponsors and the judges from Japan, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and MMU. Dr. Abdullah Sallehhuddin Abdullah Salim, Director of Student Affairs Division (STAD) gave the prizes to the winner during the closing ceremony. As a result, a team from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) on a Tel-Med Care mobile apps was crowned as champion in this competition. They will represent Malaysia to the 11th International Programming Contest by NAPROCK in Vietnam.
