Team Maverick from the Faculty of Business (FOB) represented by its students, Koh Song Wei, Khoo Nee Yen and Serena Lee Mei Ting clinched the first place in the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) Accounting Students Quiz for bachelor’s degree level in Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Puncak Alam recently.  The competition was organised by MICPA with the support from Ernst & Young  (EY) which attracted many public and private universities in the country.

The FOB had sent in two teams; Team Maverick, and Team Alpha that was represented by Christina Vincent, Chloe Teow and Nanthini Subramaniam Reddy. The quiz tested both the students’ accounting knowledge and general knowledge. It comprises of two rounds, which are the Preliminary Round and the Final Round. Team Maverick managed to steal one of the top four spots to advance to the Final Round, which is also the buzzer round. Team Maverick then maintained their cool and progress steadily in answering 50 questions and resulting in them securing the first place. Both the teams credited their mentors, Dr. Tan Pei Kian and Dr. Yip Yen Yen for giving them the opportunity to represent the university in the accounting students quiz and for their continuous support.
