With the emergence of Fifth Generation (5G) technology and beyond, cellular network planning and optimization are crucial for ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of 5G networks, enabling them to handle the immense and critical data traffic expected in this new era. The integration of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays a pivotal role by driving automation, predictive analytics, and real-time decision-making, thus enhancing the efficiency of network operations and improving cybersecurity.

FAIE’s Master of Engineering (M.Eng) in Telecommunications by coursework is designed in consultation with industry experts, ensuring that its content remains highly relevant for the professional growth of engineers. It is perfect for individuals seeking career advancement in the dynamic telecommunications field. The program provides students with cutting-edge knowledge in modern digital communications, advanced networking technologies, cellular network planning and optimization, and AI—all of which are central to shaping the future of global connectivity, as well as the development of smart cities and industries. Additionally, the curriculum covers critical areas like Computer and Network Security, Optical Communication Systems, Satellite Communication Systems, and Embedded Systems and IoT Technologies.

This 40 credit-hour program is available as a full-time 3-semester track, allowing completion in one year, or as a part-time 6-semester track for working professionals, offering flexibility to complete the degree in two years. A thesis submission is required for the completion of the master’s degree.

  • Entry Requirements
      1. A Bachelor’s degree in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by the Senate; OR
      2. A Bachelor’s degree in related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 but not meeting a CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent as accepted by Senate, subject to rigorous internal assessment; OR
      3. A Bachelor’s degree in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years relevant working experience, as accepted by senate, subject to rigorous internal assessment; OR
      4. A Bachelor’s degree in non-related fields with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 or equivalent, and not meeting a minimum of 2 years working experience, as accepted by Senate, subject to rigorous internal assessment and passing pre-requisite courses; OR
      5. Other equivalent/related qualifications to a Bachelor’s degree recognised by the Malaysian Government.
