FIST Academic Invited as Speaker at Global Conclave on AI

Ts. Dr. Sumendra Yogarayan, Deputy Dean of Postgraduate and Collaborations at the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) was invited as a speaker at the 2nd Global Conclave, themed “Elevating Education & Research: AI Revolution & Institutional Strategies,” on 1 September 2026.

The event was organised by the International Relations Department and School of Computing, Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, India. The conclave brought together five speakers from Spain, the United Kingdom and Malaysia to share their views on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in education and research. The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. S. P. Chokkalingam, Dean of the School of Computing, Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology.

During the session, the speakers discussed the opportunities and challenges brought about by AI, including its impact on teaching and learning, research, innovation and academic collaboration. The discussion also touched on how higher education institutions can respond to the rapid development of AI.

Ts. Dr. Sumendra’s participation provided an opportunity to share academic perspectives, exchange knowledge with academics from different institutions and explore future academic and research collaborations.
