The inaugural MMU Traditional Games Fiesta 2026 was officially launched by the President of MMU, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd. Su’ud, as part of the Human Capital Management (HCM) staff engagement initiative. In his address, the President described the fiesta as a meaningful platform that promotes stronger bonds among staff while encouraging a healthy work-life balance. He highlighted that one of the main objectives of introducing the Traditional Games Fiesta is to provide more Hall members with the opportunity to represent and contribute to their respective Halls. While not everyone may have the chance to compete in the MMU Sports Fiesta, the traditional games offer another avenue for staff to participate, strengthen teamwork, and take pride in representing their Hall.
Featuring six traditional games—Congkak, Batu Seremban, Ceper, Dam Haji, Galah Panjang, and Baling Selipar—the fiesta attracted enthusiastic participation, with more than 50 staff members from each of the six Halls taking part in the two-day competition. The event fostered teamwork, camaraderie, and friendly rivalry while celebrating Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage through traditional games.
Beyond the games, the initiative provided staff members with an opportunity to reconnect with colleagues in a relaxed and engaging setting while reinforcing MMU’s commitment to staff well-being, unity, and an inclusive campus culture. The closing ceremony and prize-giving ceremony will be held on 3 August 2026, marking the conclusion of the inaugural MMU Traditional Games Fiesta.
