A total of 60 students participated in a technical talk and factory visit at Infineon Technologies (Melaka) in Batu Berendam on 3 June 2026. The programme involved 36 students from the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) during the morning session and 24 students from the Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) in the afternoon.

Organised in conjunction with Infineon Week 2026 and coordinated by the faculties’ Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC), the visit aimed to provide students with greater exposure to the semiconductor industry and its evolving technological landscape.

The programme began with an introduction to Infineon’s operations and corporate culture, followed by a technical sharing session conducted by the company’s engineers. Students were introduced to various semiconductor solutions and technologies developed by Infineon for applications in automotive systems, industrial power control, power management, sensing technologies, and Internet of Things (IoT) security. The speakers also shared their career journeys and insights into the industry’s growing demand for innovation and technical expertise.

A highlight of the visit was the guided tour of the manufacturing facility, where students had the opportunity to observe key semiconductor production processes. Accompanied by Infineon engineers, they gained firsthand exposure to areas such as wafer sorting, die bonding, wire bonding, product testing, electronic packaging, and quality assurance procedures.

The visit provided students with valuable insights into the semiconductor manufacturing environment while reinforcing concepts learned in the classroom. It also offered a better understanding of industry practices, workplace expectations, and potential career pathways within one of Malaysia’s key high-technology sectors.
