The Trash to Cash 3.0 programme brought together the MMU community and residents from the surrounding neighbourhood in a collective effort to promote environmental sustainability through recycling in May 2026. PSR Faculty of Business (FOB), FMD, UPG, IU in collaboration with SWCorp, the programme highlighted the importance of responsible waste management and community participation in sustainability initiatives. The event was attended by Ms. Siti Rohayu Binti Mohd Isa, Deputy Director of SWCorp Melaka, reflecting strong support from both industry and government agencies.

The programme recorded the collection of 981.1 kg of recyclable materials, comprising 138 kg of used cooking oil, 111 kg of e-waste, 237 kg of metal, 429 kg of paper and cardboard, 6 kg of aluminium, 16 kg of plastic, and 44.1 kg of fabric. These materials were gathered through various student-led activities, including recycling and clean-up efforts conducted at the contingency laboratory and several locations across the MMU campus. The initiative not only diverted waste from landfills but also provided participants with practical exposure to waste segregation and recycling practices.

Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12: Responsible Consumption and Production, the programme aimed to cultivate recycling habits, raise environmental awareness, and encourage sustainable lifestyles among students and the wider community. The success of Trash to Cash 3.0 demonstrates the positive impact of student-led initiatives in fostering a culture of environmental responsibility while contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
