


On 13 May 2026, the Character Building (CB) Talk series under the Learning Institute of Empowerment (LIfE) at Multimedia University was held concurrently at the Cyberjaya and Melaka campuses, bringing together students for two engaging and insightful sessions.
In Cyberjaya, the session titled “Built for Pressure: Unlocking Peak Performance in Challenging Moments” featured Patrick Loke Pak Cheok, with nearly 2,500 students attending the session at Dewan Tun Canselor. He shared experiences from his personal journey and highlighted the importance of maintaining a consistent exercise routine, not only for physical health but also for developing mental strength to overcome challenges.
He also spoke on performance mastery, encouraging students to push themselves further and consistently strive for excellence. Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development (VP SEED), was also present during the session, together with Dr. Ong Sue Lyn, Director of LIfE, and faculty members.
At the same time in Melaka, students attended a session with Mr. Hairul Asraf bin Abu Hussain, custodian of Dondang Sayang, National Arts and Culture Trainer, and Melaka FM personality. The session, themed “Cultural Legacy: Inspiring Character, Igniting the Stage,” featured sharing on the history and significance of Dondang Sayang, as well as his experience performing on various platforms, including representing Malaysia at the 2025 SEA Games closing ceremony in Bangkok. The session also saw lively participation during a joget lambak segment. The session was graced by the presence of Prof. Dr. Hishamuddin Ismail, Director of the Melaka Campus, and LIfE lecturers.
Another Character Building session was held on 20 May 2026 at the Multimedia University (MMU) Melaka Campus, featuring Tan Aik Keong, an MMU alumnus and the CEO and founder of Agmo. Titled “From MMU to Main Market,” the talk was attended by students enrolled in Character Building courses such as Entrepreneurship and Uniform Bodies.
During the session, he shared his journey from being an MMU student to leading a successful technology company, while highlighting the importance of perseverance, professionalism, soft skills, and building a strong portfolio early in preparation for future career opportunities. The session provided valuable insights and motivation for students to continue developing themselves academically and personally in pursuing their future aspirations.
