On 18 May 2026, MMU formalised a strategic collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE) and Huawei Technologies (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Artificial Intelligence (AI) at fully residential schools. The signing ceremony, held in Kuala Lumpur, was attended by YB Madam Fadhlina Sidek, Minister of Education, together with representatives from MMU, MoE, and Huawei.
In his speech, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and Chief Executive Officer of MMU, emphasised that the TVET AI Programme for fully residential schools is a strategic and forward-looking initiative aimed at equipping the nation’s younger generation with future-ready skills that are relevant, progressive, and globally competitive.
He added that the programme is not only focused on developing technologically literate and highly skilled students, but is also designed with clear, measurable, and high-impact outcomes to ensure meaningful and sustainable impact, while acknowledging the Ministry’s continuous support in driving this national agenda.
Through this collaboration, MMU will contribute its expertise in digital technology, AI, and innovation to support the development of future-ready talent and further enhance the national TVET ecosystem. The initiative reflects the university’s continued commitment to strengthening industry–academia–government partnerships in advancing digital education and emerging technologies.
Participating students will also benefit from exposure to industry-recognised professional certifications, supporting their academic growth and future career pathways in AI. MMU remains committed to nurturing a generation that is not only technologically skilled and globally competitive, but also capable of applying AI in an ethical, responsible, and meaningful way for the benefit of society and the nation.
