A virtual Industry Learning Partner (ILP) session titled “Financial Goal Setting” for Diploma in Management students was held on 19 April 2026. The session was delivered by Mr. Koh Kian Guan, Head of the Agency Builder Department, LPA Team, with a focus on strengthening students’ financial literacy and providing exposure to real-world financial management practices.
The session was coordinated by FOM lecturers, Dr. Jack Ng Kok Wah and Dr. Goh Han Hwa. It covered key aspects of personal financial management, including spending behaviour, financial goal setting, and making informed financial decisions for long-term financial stability. Topics such as income management, budgeting, saving, financial protection, and wealth accumulation were also discussed.
Through practical examples, the speaker illustrated how financial planning can support long-term life goals such as home ownership, family responsibilities, and further education. The session was delivered in a structured and accessible manner, allowing students to relate concepts to everyday situations.
Students were also encouraged to reflect on their own financial habits and identify areas for improvement. The engagement helped raise awareness on the importance of early financial planning and responsible money management.
Overall, the ILP session achieved its objective of equipping students with relevant industry insights and practical financial skills, contributing to their readiness in managing both personal and professional financial decisions.
