Students from the Faculty of Management (FOM) participated in the CraftCycle Totebags Charity Project, an initiative supervised by Ms Norzarina Md Yatim on 21 January 2026. The project combined environmental sustainability with community-based charity, aiming to promote upcycling practices while encouraging social responsibility among students and the wider community.

The initiative began with the collection of old and pre-loved clothes donated by students. These materials were later repurposed during a sewing workshop on 20 December 2025, held in collaboration with Galeri Ustazah Asma Harun. Participants gained practical experience in sewing and sustainable design, resulting in the creation of 41 reusable tote bags made entirely from upcycled fabrics.

On the programme day, the team visited Rumah Anak Yatim dan Asnaf Sijangkang, where they conducted a sustainability awareness session and distributed the handmade tote bags. The reusable bags, intended for school and personal use, encouraged the children to reduce single-use plastics and adopt environmentally responsible habits in their daily lives.

The CraftCycle Totebags Charity Project successfully demonstrated the creative potential of upcycling, transforming pre-loved clothing into functional items while fostering innovation. The initiative also heightened students’ awareness of responsible waste management, promoted environmental sustainability, and strengthened community engagement, highlighting the role of young people in shaping a more sustainable future.
