On 26 January 2026, accounting students from the Faculty of Management (FOM) had the opportunity to explore the practical side of software development during a talk titled “Understanding the Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in Accounting Information Systems” at the Cyberjaya campus.

The session featured Mr. Wan Mohd Rizal, a Software Engineer at Nintex, a leading platform for process management and workflow automation. Drawing from his professional experience, Mr. Rizal shared how accounting and business systems are designed, developed, and maintained in real-world environments.

Students were introduced to the application of the SDLC in professional projects, including insights from Mr. Rizal’s work integrating software with the Touch ’n Go payment system. He highlighted important considerations during system design, implementation, and post-implementation, including automation processes that improve efficiency and accuracy, as well as planning for system maintenance and hardware management to ensure long-term reliability.

The talk bridged the gap between theory and practice, showing students how classroom concepts are applied in professional systems development. Coordinated by Ms. Fatin Nabilah Norzihad, the session provided valuable industry exposure for the students and inspired them to gain a deeper understanding of the practical challenges and opportunities in accounting system development.
