The Faculty of Management (FOM) successfully organised an Industrial Learning Partner Talk titled “Small Businesses: The Real Economic Game-Changers” on 17 December 2025 at the FOM Lecture Theatre. The session was part of the faculty’s ongoing initiatives to enhance industry engagement and provide students with practical insights into real-world economic and business issues.

The talk was delivered by Dr. Ridzuan Kushairi Mohd Ramli, Head of Section (Economic Modelling and Public Policy Studies), Fiscal and Economics Division, Ministry of Finance. During his talk, Dr. Ridzuan shared valuable insights on the significant role of small businesses in driving economic growth, supporting employment creation, fostering innovation, and strengthening overall economic resilience. He also highlighted the importance of sound public policies and economic frameworks in supporting the development and sustainability of small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The event was organised by Dr. Azrena Mohd Noor, Ms Nor Hazleza binti Mohamad, and Ms Putri Nurul ‘Aainaa Rusli for Faculty of Management students and was attended by 70 students. The session provided students with meaningful exposure to industry and policy perspectives, complementing their academic learning. It was particularly beneficial for students with aspirations to venture into entrepreneurship, as it offered a deeper understanding of how small businesses contribute to the economy beyond profit generation.

Overall, the programme successfully enriched students’ learning experience by bridging theoretical knowledge with practical insights, while reinforcing the FOM’s commitment to producing graduates who are informed, industry-ready, and socially responsible.
