On 9 December 2025, Mr. Kelvin Tan, Co-Founder and Strategic Director of the Ah Ma Ho Liao Group, shared his entrepreneurial journey with students as part of the I3 Entrepreneur Series at Melaka campus.

The session, organised by the Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) and supported by Dr. Anushia Chelvarayan from the Faculty of Business (FOB), highlighted Kelvin’s path from studying Financial Engineering at MMU, to a banking career in Singapore, and eventually returning to Melaka to start a business built on culture, systems, and purpose.

Kelvin spoke openly about starting from scratch in the F&B industry, handling challenges like operations, cash flow, and people management, and navigating the COVID-19 crisis by relying on data-driven systems rather than luck. He also reminded students that university networks, communication, and leadership skills are just as important as CGPA.

The session went beyond business advice, touching on life lessons: start small, learn from experience, and avoid comparing your early steps with others’ success. Students left feeling motivated, with practical insights on resilience, purpose, and long-term growth.
