
The Faculty of Management (FOM) held an insightful professional talk titled “Empowering Bankers, Honoring Trust: Professional Excellence in Banking” on 12 November 2025. The session aimed to equip students with a deeper understanding of the values, skills, and professional standards essential for success in the banking industry.
The talk was delivered by Mr. Hasiib, Assistant Manager in the Growth & Strategic Partnerships Division at the Asian Institute of Chartered Bankers (AICB). Drawing on his experience at both AICB and the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA), as well as his academic background from UiTM and Manchester Metropolitan University, UK, Mr. Hasiib provided students with practical insights into the evolving expectations of banking professionals.
During the session, he highlighted the importance of building credibility, embracing ethical conduct, and pursuing continuous professional development, qualities that set future bankers apart in today’s competitive financial landscape. He also shared how AICB’s initiatives, including university engagement and industry collaboration, support aspiring professionals in developing the right competencies and values needed in the sector.
The talk provided students with clarity on the career pathways available within banking and how cultivating professionalism early can create long-term opportunities. Participants were particularly inspired by Hasiib’s emphasis on purposeful collaboration, accountability, and the role of young talent in shaping a trustworthy and forward-looking.
