On 18 September 2025, the Faculty of Business (FOB) held a guest lecture at the Melaka campus, coordinated by Dr. Tan Pei Kian, Assistant Professor. The session featured Mr. Gerald Chua, an accomplished MMU alumnus and Co-founder of Salt-Cola by Krobe, who shared his insights as the invited speaker.
In his lecture on “Key Strategies and Challenges in International Markets,” Mr. Chua shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey and international business experience, giving students practical perspectives on the subject. His company, OP-G Innovative Industry Sdn. Bhd., has built a strong distribution network spanning all ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Brunei.
Mr. Chua also brought samples of Salt-Cola for participants to try. The tasting session generated much excitement, with many students expressing their enjoyment at experiencing the product for the first time. The lecture was attended by 68 students from the Management of Strategy course, who gained first-hand understanding of cross-border operations, competitive positioning, and sustainable growth in international markets. Dr. Yeow Jian Ai and Dr. Chow Mei Min were also present.
By bringing industry voices into the classroom, MMU continues to bridge the gap between education and practice, giving students a stronger foundation for future careers in the global market.
