The Faculty of Cinematic Arts (FCA) recently concluded a two-day workshop, “The Art of Film Language: The Impact of Cinematography on Student Comprehension of Video,” at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Putrajaya Presint 9(2) from 26 until 27 August 2025. Led by Ghazi Alqudcy, Furqaan Mohamad, Ts. Anwar Suhaimi, and Dr. Tan Yun Yi, the programme engaged 30 students in understanding how film language and cinematography shape storytelling and meaning.
During the workshop, students explored character development, story ideation, and the three-act structure before participating in hands-on exercises in camera techniques. Drawing inspiration from FCA student film screenings, participants created short TikTok and YouTube videos, experimenting with camera angles to convey emotions and narratives. The workshop concluded with a screening and peer feedback session, allowing students to showcase their projects and reflect on the impact of visual storytelling choices.
This initiative forms part of FCA’s school outreach programme, which bridges academic expertise with schools and communities. Through this initiative, the faculty aims to cultivate students’ creativity and media skills, while offering a glimpse into the world of cinematic arts education.
Well done!
