A group of students from the Foundation in Engineering and Foundation in Law programmes, accompanied by Mdm Kerk Peck Hoon, visited Pertubuhan Kebajikan Warga Emas dan Anak Yatim Victory in Melaka on 28 May 2025. This visit was part of the requirements for the Fundamentals of Business Management subject; the students were tasked with conducting a business project and donating 50% of their profits to charitable organisations.
Notably, several groups chose to donate more than the required 50%, with some even contributing 100% of their profits. The objective of the visit was to allow students to apply the concept of social responsibility as taught in their syllabus and to raise awareness that every individual in society can contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 1: No Poverty and SDG 2: Zero Hunger.
The visit began with a brief introduction of the centre by the person in charge, followed by an interactive session between the students and the orphans. Subsequently, the leaders of each business group presented their donations—either in cash or in kind—to the centre. The visit concluded with a group photo before the students returned to campus. Overall, the experience was heartwarming and provided valuable lessons in compassion and gratitude.
