MMU together with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and the GSMA, is conducting the third and final cohort of the Converged Telecommunications Policy Regulation (CTPR) Masterclass 2026 in Penang from 2 to 6 November 2026. The opening ceremony was graced by YB Tuan Zairil Khir Johari, Chairman of the Penang State Executive Council Committee (EXCO) for Infrastructure, Transport and Digital, and attended by MMU President and CEO, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud together with Datuk Zurkarnain Mohd Yasin, Senior Advisor of MCMC.

Coordinated by CNERGY, the five-day programme convened regulators, industry leaders, public-sector representatives and academics from Malaysia and across the region to exchange knowledge and perspectives on telecommunications policy and regulation. The Masterclass addresses emerging developments in the telecommunications and digital landscape, including 5G, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, satellite connectivity and non-terrestrial networks.

Participants also gained practical insights through visits to Penang’s Smart City Integrated Operations Centre, Smart Street Pole and Smart Parking initiatives. The programme reflects MMU’s continued collaboration with industry and regulatory partners in advancing knowledge exchange, regional cooperation and talent development in the telecommunications and digital sectors.
