MMU brought together 200 university students, youths and local community members through Rakan Muda: ZOOM Langkawi 2026, a four-day programme held from 21 to 24 October 2026 to promote community engagement, volunteerism and experiential learning.

The programme concluded with a closing ceremony officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato’ Zubir bin Ahmad, Speaker of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly, in Kampung Padang Ragut, Langkawi. Organised by the MMU Cyberjaya Sekretariat Rakan Muda Club, the programme involved activities with communities in Kampung Padang Lalang, Kampung Bohor Merah and Kampung Bukit Tok Puteri.

Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, MMU President also attended the event. Through their engagement with residents and host families, participants had the opportunity to learn about local culture, build relationships and gain a better understanding of community life.

One of the programme’s highlights was the cultural night, attended by the MMU President, Prof. Ir. Dr. Zulfadzli Yusoff, Vice President of Student Experience and Entrepreneurship Development, and local residents. The event featured performances by students and villagers, providing an opportunity for participants and the community to share their talents and celebrate cultural exchange.

ZOOM is an annual MMU initiative that began in 2010, providing students with opportunities to connect with communities through volunteerism and community engagement. The university continues to support such initiatives as part of its efforts to develop graduates who combine academic and professional capabilities with a strong sense of social responsibility.

Well done!
