A team of five students from Multimedia University’s (MMU) Faculty of Business (FOB), comprising Wong Shin Chen, Khoo Teck Chee, Nichole Lim Yan Rou, Chu Wan Xin and Ker Hui Ling, emerged as the overall winner at the AWS CendekiAwan 2.0 National Showcase held on 20 October 2026 at Universiti Malaya.
The winning team developed an AI-powered solution that simplifies complex Malaysian parliamentary Hansard into accessible language, helping citizens better understand national policies. The solution also matches users with relevant government subsidies and bursaries, demonstrating how artificial intelligence can improve access to public information and government assistance.
The showcase was part of the AWS CendekiAwan Malaysia Programme, an initiative jointly driven by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Elitery to address Malaysia’s technology skills gap and broaden access to cloud computing and AI-driven learning. Participating teams developed applications using Amazon Bedrock and presented their solutions to a panel of judges from AWS and Elitery.
Five MMU teams from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST), and FOB represented the university at the showcase. They competed against teams from Universiti Malaya (UM), Asia Pacific University (APU) and Nilai University, presenting AI solutions designed to address real-world challenges across five categories: Smart Education, Digital Health, Sustainable Environment and Climate, Financial Inclusion and SME, and GovTech and Social Impact.
The overall victory highlights MMU students’ ability to apply AI technologies to practical challenges, particularly in making public information more accessible and relevant to the needs of society. It also reflects the value of experiential learning in preparing students to develop technology-driven solutions with real-world applications.
Congratulations!
