Multimedia University (MMU) hosted the Huawei Intelligent World 2035 session at Dewan Tun Canselor, Cyberjaya Campus on 28 September 2026, providing students and academics with an opportunity to gain insights into emerging technologies, career opportunities and the future of the digital industry.

The session opened with remarks by Prof. Dato’ Ts. Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, President and Chief Executive Officer of MMU, who highlighted the University’s long-standing partnership with Huawei, which began in 2018 through the establishment of a Huawei ICT Academy at MMU.

The collaboration has continued to grow over the years, with MMU recently recognised as one of Huawei’s Excellent Global Talent Alliance Partners during the Global Partners’ Night at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai, recently. The recognition reflects the continued collaboration between MMU and Huawei in supporting talent development and strengthening industry-academia engagement in the digital technology sector. Also present were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chua Fang Fang, Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), together with representatives from Huawei Malaysia, MMU lecturers and students.

During the session, Mr. Jack Li, HR Director of Huawei Malaysia, shared insights into career opportunities and talent development, while Mr. Chong Chern Peng, Vice President of Digital Power, Huawei Malaysia, delivered a keynote on Intelligent World 2035, exploring technological developments expected to shape industries and society over the coming decade.

The session also introduced students to Huawei’s ICT Academy, professional certification and learning opportunities, as well as industry platforms such as the Huawei ICT Competition. A Digital Power segment further highlighted the convergence of digital technologies and power electronics, while representatives from Huawei and participating industry partners provided opportunities for students to explore potential career pathways.

In a nutshell, the programme provided students with greater exposure to industry perspectives, emerging technologies and potential career pathways, complementing their academic learning with insights from industry professionals. It also further strengthened the industry-academia connection between MMU and Huawei, supporting continued opportunities for students to develop relevant skills and stay connected with the evolving needs of the digital technology sector.
