MMU Recognised as Huawei Excellent Global Talent Alliance Partner 2026

Our university has been named a Huawei Excellent Global Talent Alliance Partner 2026, recognising its continued contributions to ICT talent development, industry–academia collaboration and digital skills development on 17 September 2026. The recognition was presented during Global Partners’ Night at HUAWEI CONNECT 2026 in Shanghai, China, where MMU was recognised alongside the University of Bahrain (UOB) and Shenzhen Polytechnic University (SPU). Representing MMU at the ceremony was Ts. Dr. Lee Fong Yee, Assistant Professor, Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI), who received the recognition on behalf of the University.

MMU’s collaboration with Huawei dates back to 2018 with the establishment of a Huawei ICT Academy. Since then, the University has expanded its academic engagement to include emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), datacom, cybersecurity and openGauss. In 2025, 13 MMU faculty members delivered Huawei technology courses to more than 2,000 students, contributing to MMU’s subsequent recognition as a Huawei ICT Academy Support Center (IASC).

As a Huawei partner in the Asia-Pacific region, MMU also supports 26 Huawei ICT Academies through instructor development and knowledge sharing. To date, the University has contributed to the training of more than 70 ICT Academy instructors, benefiting over 5,000 students across the regional network.

The recognition reflects MMU’s ongoing efforts to strengthen industry-relevant education and expand opportunities for students and educators to develop skills in emerging digital technologies. Through its continued partnership with Huawei, MMU remains engaged in developing future-ready ICT talent while contributing to knowledge exchange and industry–academia collaboration at both national and regional levels.
