Two virtual MBA Industry Learning Partner sharing sessions were conducted recently by the Faculty of Management (FOM) recently. The session featured industry practitioners who shared insights into leadership, communication, and workplace behaviour.
The first session, “Strategic Collaboration & Sustainable Growth”, was delivered by Arthur Sam, a seasoned industry leader with senior executive experience, including former Executive Vice President of Ocean Vantage Holdings and former Chief Executive Officer of Daya Maxflo. The session focused on the role of leadership values and collaboration in organisational success.
Arthur Sam shared that sustainable performance is built through trust, mutual respect, and shared objectives rather than pressure-driven or transactional working relationships. He also highlighted the importance of creating a work culture that supports openness, integrity, and teamwork.
The second session featured Mdm. Emy Yuzliza Yahya, Chief Executive Officer of Engage People, who spoke on “Understanding Personality & Communication.” The session introduced the DISC framework and its application in understanding different personality styles in the workplace.
She explained how personality differences influence communication, leadership approaches, and team interactions, and encouraged students to adapt their communication styles to work more effectively with others. The session also highlighted the importance of self-awareness and understanding behavioural differences in managing workplace relationships. Both sessions provided students with exposure to practical organisational behaviour concepts, linking classroom learning with industry experience and real workplace practices.
