The Faculty of Information Science & Technology (FIST) organised an online industry sharing session titled “From Reactive to Proactive Digital Forensics” on 5 June 2026. The session featured Dr. Niken Dwi Wahyu Cahyani, Chief Executive Officer of PT. Rokade Solusi Forensik, who shared her expertise and industry experiences with students and academic staff.

The session explored the growing importance of proactive approaches in cybersecurity and digital forensics. Participants were introduced to key concepts in digital investigations, cyber threat management, and the handling of digital evidence. Through practical examples and technical demonstrations, Dr. Niken illustrated how forensic techniques are applied in real-world scenarios to support investigations and strengthen cybersecurity readiness.

Drawing from her professional background as a Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) and Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), she also discussed the complexities of managing digital evidence across different jurisdictions. Her presentation highlighted the need for cybersecurity professionals to understand not only technical processes but also the legal and regulatory requirements that vary from one country to another.

The programme concluded with a closing address by Ts. Dr. Sumendra A/L Yogarayan, Deputy Dean (Postgraduate and Collaborations) of FIST. In his remarks, he emphasised the value of industry engagement initiatives in exposing students to current practices and challenges within the cybersecurity sector. The event was coordinated by Ts. Mr. Thinesh A/L Ganesan with assistance from Ms. Ang Ee Mae, Mr. Brendan Hong Jun Zhi, and Mr. Alvin Lim Fang Chuen.
