
The Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) held an online academic sharing session on 19 June 2026, bringing together international experts to explore emerging trends in digital innovation, sustainability, and future technologies. The session provided a platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on how digital transformation, artificial intelligence, sustainability practices, and policy frameworks can collectively address global challenges, while fostering collaboration among academics, researchers, and industry practitioners from different regions.
The session featured five distinguished speakers who shared their expertise across a range of topics. Associate Professor Dr. Paniti Netinant (Thailand) discussed digital platform innovation for micro-entrepreneurship and sustainable community development, highlighting the role of AI and IoT in supporting SDG-aligned growth. Professor Dr. Mukul Saxena (India) explored the relationship between sustainability, governance, and social justice, emphasising ethical frameworks for equitable development. Dr. Shivani Singh (India) presented on the use of AI/ML and 5G/6G technologies in transforming future education systems, while Professor Dr. Bhakti More (Dubai Campus) focused on integrating SDGs into higher education and empowering youth leadership for sustainability. From MMU, Dr. Ramadhan Mazen Farid Ebrahim shared insights on cloud resource optimisation and its role in building a sustainable digital infrastructure.
The session was highly interactive and encouraged participants to reflect on the interconnected roles of technology, sustainability, and policy in addressing real-world challenges. It concluded successfully with participants gaining enriched perspectives on innovation and future digital ecosystems, further reinforcing the university’s commitment to academic excellence, global collaboration, and impactful knowledge sharing in advancing sustainable digital transformation.
