The King Sejong Institute (KSI) organised its 6th Korean Speaking Contest 2026 on 16 May 2026, bringing together students in a lively virtual competition that highlighted their Korean language proficiency, confidence, and presentation skills.

A total of 11 KSI MMU Melaka students participated in the contest, delivering speeches in Korean before a panel of judges and fellow participants. The event served as a platform for students to apply what they had learned in class while gaining valuable public speaking experience in a supportive environment.

The programme began with opening remarks by Dr. Ong Sue Lyn, Director of KSI MMU Melaka, who encouraged students to continue exploring the Korean language and culture through continuous learning and participation in educational activities. The judging panel comprised Korean language instructors Mr. Sohn Gukkwang, Mr. Chun Sungkyu, and Ms. Tai Pei Ping.

As a result, Loke Pooi Yan was announced as the champion of the competition, earning RM300 worth of Korean products and a plaque. The second and third place winners received RM250 and RM200 worth of Korean products respectively, together with plaques. Following the win, Loke Pooi Yan will represent Malaysia in the King Sejong Institute Excellent Learners Cultural Experience Program in South Korea in October 2026.

Congratulations!
