Marking a key step in student engagement with the capital market ecosystem, MMU students participated in the Bursa Young Investor Club (BYIC) Roundtable Session 2026 at Bursa Malaysia Conference Room on 18 April 2026. The participation was especially meaningful as it was MMU Melaka’s first official invitation to the national-level BYIC roundtable, bringing student voices into a platform focused on shaping the future of young investors in Malaysia.
MMU Melaka team was represented by Jonathan Lee Hao En (President) and Ang Yong Kang (Vice President) from the Faculty of Business, Banking & Finance programme, accompanied by their advisor, Madam Hazlaili Hashim. Their participation also placed them alongside more than 35 BYIC representatives from universities nationwide, including delegates from MMU Cyberjaya.
The session was officiated by Dato’ Fad’l Mohamed, Chief Executive Officer of Bursa Malaysia, who emphasised the importance of early exposure to governance, market discipline, and ethical investing. He encouraged students to develop long-term perspectives, resilience, and responsible decision-making as future participants in the capital market ecosystem, while also highlighting BYIC as a platform for leadership and collaboration.
The roundtable provided a constructive platform for students to exchange ideas on the future direction of BYIC, while also sharing best practices on club management and student-led initiatives across institutions. The discussions offered valuable exposure to leadership, organisational strategy, and peer learning within a financial ecosystem context.
Overall, the session strengthened students’ understanding of capital market engagement and reinforced their role as emerging contributors to Malaysia’s investment landscape, while fostering meaningful inter-university networking and collaboration.
