MMU officially entered into a strategic collaboration with the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at its Cyberjaya campus on 8 May 2025.

The MoU was signed by MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, and Chief Executive Officer of AIAC, Datuk Almalena Sharmila Johan Thambu. The signing ceremony was attended by MMU Chancellor and former Chief Justice of Malaysia, Tun Zaki Tun Azmi, Dato’ Mary Lim Thiam Suan, Director of AIAC, and Dr. Hasbollah Mat Saad, Dean of the Faculty of Law (FOL), faculty members and AIAC officers.

This collaboration marks a significant milestone in enhancing the academic and professional landscape of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), which includes arbitration, mediation, adjudication, and domain name dispute resolution. It reflects a shared commitment to advancing education, research, and practice in ADR across Malaysia and the region.

Under this MoU, both institutions will jointly develop academic programmes, organise seminars, conferences, and forums, and collaborate on research initiatives and publications. The partnership also involves the exchange of knowledge and expertise, while ensuring full compliance with national data protection laws and regulatory frameworks.

Beyond academic cooperation, the MoU aims to promote broader awareness and adoption of ADR mechanisms within the legal community and industry. The partnership is expected to contribute to a stronger legal infrastructure, facilitate cost-effective and efficient dispute resolution, and support regional economic stability.

The event highlighted the importance of institutional collaboration in strengthening legal education and promoting continuous academic and professional development in the field of dispute resolution.
