Let us congratulate Nyaanaputhraan A/L Prakabakaran from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) for being listed in the Top 12 Grand Finalists in the Hong Leong Bank Hackathon Challenge 2022 that was held recently. He bagged two awards, a consolation prize and Special Award (Perseverance and Commitment) during the event. The special award was given to him as he completed the entire hackathon all by himself.

Besides that, another MMU team consisting of Vincent Chan from the Faculty of Business (FOB), Ahmad Johan from the Faculty of Management (FOM), and Resyinder Ramish from the Faculty of Creative Multimedia (FCM) also participated in the challenge, and one of the Top 40 finalists. The competition aimed for participants to re-imagine banking in the metaverse as they aspire to have products and solutions that are personalised and friendly-user to be utilised in both the physical and virtual worlds. 

The participants used their knowledge of blockchain technology, cloud computing, artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, augmented reality (AR)/ virtual reality (VR), and Big Data to hack our-of-the-box solutions to solve the problem statements provided, which related to the metaverse and hyper-personalisation. The participants from various varsities, start-ups, and companies came to compete for the final demo pitch on 30th October 2022. As a result, Nyaanaputhraan who won 2 awards walked home with a cash prize of RM1,000 and Reshinder is offered a job opportunity at Hong Leong Bank.
