More than 40 students and teachers from 7 Chinese Independent Schools attended a virtual talk entitled “Pathways to MMU Accounting Degree” on 11 June 2021. The two-hour event was jointly organised by the Faculty of Business (FOB) and the Student Recruitment Office (SRO). The participants were from Johor Bahru, Kulai, Melaka, Klang, Port Dickson, and Penang.

The virtual talk started with the sharing session with Mr. Vinn Lim Chee Yeaw, the Senior Coordinator of Business Development, CIMA. He gave an introduction about the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the recognition and importance of professional accounting qualification, and also the CIMA exam exemptions given to MMU students.

Next, the talk continued with Dr. Lye Chun Teck, the FOB Dean explaining programmes offered as well as pathways for students with SPM and UEC qualifications to pursue an accounting degree in MMU and also a professional accounting qualification. The participants also engaged in a quiz contest and the top 10 winners received prizes from the organisers. It is hoped that the participants gained a better understanding of the CIMA and MMU programmes through this initiative.
