More than 60 participants from different local and international varsities attended a webinar entitled “Introductory to Composite Based Structural Equation Modelling (SEM): Theory and Philosophical Foundation with Dr. Francis Chuah”, recently. Organised by the Faculty of Business through its Centre of e-Services, Entrepreneurship and Market (CESEM), the session was conducted by Dr. Francis Chuah Chin Wei, a senior lecturer from Universiti Utara Malaysia (UUM).
His specialization is in micro and behavioural strategy and management. He is currently the co-managing editor of the Journal of Applied Structural Equation Modelling (JASEM- Scopus Indexed). He is also a reviewer for several high impact journals indexed by Scopus and Web of Science in the field of business, management and research methodology. He is also the co-author of the popular PLS-SEM by Pearson.
The two-hour webinar was very insightful and he shared about the 8 typologies of SEM techniques, Behavioural Research vs Design Research, Measurement Theory vs Synthesis Theory, as well as Latent Variable vs Emergent Variable. The speaker also shared his knowledge on research methods and gave some tips on how to develop a theoretical model and differentiate formative and reflective items.
