MMU Launches its Digital Futures Research Hub to Digitalise Society

MMU Digital Futures Research Hub was launched by Prof. Ir. Dr. Hairul Azhar Abdul Rashid, the Vice President of Research & Innovation at Dewan Tun Canselor, MMU Cyberjaya on 15 November 2018.

The MMU Research Hub for Digital Futures is the brainchild of Prof. Datuk Ts. Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq, the President of MMU. The hub is a community and industry-centric entity, with 20 professor chairs that bring together universities, governmental and industrial research organisations, as well as state and federal governments.

Digital Futures serves as the bridge that connects researchers from various disciplines to share their knowledge, experience and research on issues regarding the digitalisation of society. Under its umbrella, there are EIGHT distinctive research institutes that aim to provide talented young scholars and students with exceptional quality training namely Digital Cities, Digital Connectivity, Digital Education, Digital Security, Digital Society, Digital Lifestyle, Digital Expression and Digital Enterprise.

During the launching ceremony, Prof. Ir. Dr Hairul Azhar also presented prizes to the winners of the Digital Futures Competition. The winners of the competition were Ng Yi Kee, Nicholas Lee Ming Ze, Chew Yee Jian, Darren Lee Kai Shen, Cheng Kin Meng, Hemanathan Harikrishnan, Leoparken Pillay A/L Lourdesamy, Tan Choon Hong, Siti Zulaika Khaled, Athirah Syahira Ishak, Ekerin Oluseye Michael and Tan Syh Ren. The winners received the MMU scholarship for them to pursue their postgraduate studies at MMU.
