As part of the University Social Responsibility (USR) project, a visit was made by Multimedia University (MMU) lecturers and students to the Hanukkah Children’s Home in Klebang, Melaka on 27th of July 2018.

The project was led by Mdm. Siow Yung Ern from the Faculty of Business (FOB) is in line with the University’s effort in cultivating the culture of giving and to create a more loving and caring society towards the less fortunate. The orphanage houses 25 children from the ages of a few months to 16 years old.

Within a week, donations came pouring in the form of cash, toys as well as food and house hold items. The cash received were then used to buy food rations which includes rice, flour, sugar, cooking oil, biscuits, milk, books and toiletries. These donations were presented to the principal of the Home, Mrs. Agnes.

The event was also enlivened by activities such as talk and birthday celebration. The students also shared their experiences with the children to encourage and to motivate them to work hard for them to excel in their studies. The project was successfully conducted and it is truly an eye opener that there are still many less fortunate people out there that need some care and helping hand for them to survive in their  own lives.
