Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a set of 17 global objectives adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. They aim to tackle critical global challenges such as poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, and the promotion of peace and justice. Within the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET), it is essential to raise awareness of the SDGs, as students and staff have a significant role to play in advancing these goals through education, research, innovation, and community involvement.
To support deeper understanding and encourage meaningful participation, two helpful resources are available.
- The Guidebook for the Preparation of Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) for SDGs Roadmap offers strategic guidance on how to use science, technology, and innovation to meet the goals, particularly aimed at policymakers and development stakeholders.
- The UN and SDGs: A Handbook for Youth serves as an inspiring and accessible guide for young people, outlining practical ways they can contribute to sustainable development.
Together, these resources highlight the importance of shared responsibility, informed action, and broad engagement in achieving a more sustainable future.
