Adam Zainal

I have never in my life enjoyed studying, until I’m in the right course in Faculty of Cinematic Arts. It also driven me to be a film director and with the support from the lecturers, i couldn’t ask for a better one. Can honestly say, i would scream at anyone to join MMU.

Azhar Amirulhisyam

Year Graduated: 2016

One of the first batch alumni, AZHAR AMIRULHISYAM BIN JAMALUDIN is an up-and-coming writer with experience in feature films, shorts, and TV commercials. His short film, SURAYA (2016) was nominated for Best Short Film in the 28th Malaysian Film Festival and won the Best Of The Best Award in the Asian Youth International Film Festival 2016. His breakthrough in the local film industry came from his involvement as a co-writer in POLIS EVO 2 (2018), Malaysia’s blockbuster action film which collected more than RM 20 million to become one of Malaysia’s all-time highest grossing movies. He currently works in the development team of Ideate Media, the studio behind TOMBIRUO, PENUNGGU RIMBA (2017) which develops feature films and TV series for local and international productions.

My 3 years at Multimedia University have opened many opportunities for me, especially in the film industry. Stepping into campus each time is like stepping into a whole new world, a world that generates positive vibes, a world that is open to new ideas, and most importantly, a world where you meet one of the most amazing people who will nurture you into who you are today.

Chan Teik Quan

Chan Teik Quan, born in 1996, is a graduate of the Faculty of Cinematic Arts at Multimedia University Johor, Malaysia.

He is currently an assistant lecturer at Multimedia University Cyberjaya. His short film, Setting Moon (2019), won the Jury’s Choice Award and People’s Choice Award for the Kancil 666 Young Directors Challenge 2019 at Kancil Festival 2019. The film also won the Silver Award in the New Director Lotus category at ADFEST 2021. His short films have been screened at various international film festivals, such as Singapore International Film Festival, Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival, Minikino Film Week, Cardiff International Film Festival and more. He previously worked as a junior film director at Graph Studio and had made a number of commercials for brands like Prudential Insurance, Rejoice, McDonald’s, and more.

He often draws inspiration from the mortality of human life and the impermanence of conditioned things.

I never thought I would be working in the film industry. I’m just some dude who likes making film scores and create an immersive storytelling experience to those who sees my work. Turns out, those 2 that I enjoyed, helps enhancing my skills and visions to make a succesful cinematic film experience in the future. So here I am and let’s talk film shall we? Haha

No regret choosing Multimedia University 3 years here has created so many opportunities for me in the film industry. I am a keen producer trying to make my way into the film industry applying the skills learned in campus and also my past experiences. I believe through making films can connect people around the globe.
