BCS AI Lecturers and PG Students Gain Insight into Malaysia’s Supercomputing Future
Lecturers and students from the Bachelor of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) (BCS AI) programme were recently invited by Dr. Yong Keh Kok from MIMOS Berhad to attend the Symposium on “Shaping the Future of Supercomputing.”
Dr. Yong, who serves as the Industrial Advisor for the BCS AI programme and the Phase 2 Technical Chairman driving Malaysia’s High-Performance Computing (HPC) strategy and implementation, extended this special invitation to provide academicians and students with first-hand exposure to national-level discussions shaping the future of computing infrastructure and AI innovation.

The symposium brought together leaders from government, academia, and industry to share insights, address challenges, and align priorities for Malaysia’s National HPC Framework. Participants explored global trends and applications, exchanged experiences and technological needs, and contributed directly to developing a pragmatic, demand-driven roadmap for sustainable and sovereign supercomputing in Malaysia.

For students, the event offered a valuable opportunity to connect with experts and witness how AI, data-driven decision-making, and supercomputing capabilities intersect to support Malaysia’s digital transformation goals.
This participation highlights the active industry-academic engagement embedded in the BCS AI programme, where both lecturers and students contribute their perspectives to national-level discussions on shaping Malaysia’s technological future through supercomputing and AI.
