The Master of Engineering Science (By Research) offered by Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE) is an advanced, fully research-based postgraduate program designed for students who want to pursue original research in a specific field of engineering and artificial intelligence, and contribute to the industry-led R&D.
The main goal of the Master of Engineering Science (By Research) program is to contribute new knowledge, innovation, or methodology to the field of engineering and artificial intelligence. Students work independently under the supervision of experienced researchers from the faculty. Our faculty staff members are experienced supervisors with research expertise in the areas which include artificial intelligence, Internet of Things (IoT), signal and image processing, telecommunications, cybersecurity, robotics and automation, nanotechnology, optical engineering and photonics, VLSI & System-on-Chip (SoC) etc. There are 5 research centers in the faculty, namely Centre for Advanced Devices and Systems (CADS), Centre for Smart Systems and Automation (CSSA), Centre for Electric Energy and High Voltage Engineering (CEEHVE), Centre for Wireless Technology (CWT) as well as Centre for Fibre Networking and Communication (CFNC). We also have strong collaborations with global industry leaders who are ready to share their knowledge of cutting-edge innovative technologies to keep you up-to-the-minute with current and future industry needs.
The duration of study for a full-time Master of Engineering Science (By Research) is 1 year minimum and 3 years maximum. There is also an option for part-time candidature, offering flexibility to complete the degree in 2 years (minimum) to 5 years (maximum). A thesis submission is required for the completion of the degree.
