Title: MazeCraze 2025 Competition
Date: 27 April 2025
Venue: Universiti Malaya (UM)
Descriptions:
A team of talented students, including two from the Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE) at Multimedia University (MMU), won the Best Design Award at the MazeCraze 2025 Competition, held at Universiti Malaya (UM) on 27 April 2025.
Competing under the team name M3 Navigator, the group comprised Lim Zing and Koh Ming from MMU, along with Lee Wei Ken, Wong Zhi Wen, and Lee Pei Zhe from UM.
The team distinguished themselves among 18 groups from leading institutions such as Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka (UTeM), and Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), emerging as Top 4 Finalists and securing the Best Design recognition for their exceptional innovation.
MazeCraze 2025 is an robotics competition that challenges students to design and build intelligent robots capable of navigating a complex maze. The competition emphasizes innovation, critical thinking, and real-world problem-solving, while encouraging collaboration and knowledge exchange among students from various universities.
M3 Navigator’s winning robot integrated nine advanced sensors enabling it to perform multiple tasks, including obstacle avoidance, color detection, and strategic navigation across a dynamic game map. The project required the application of sophisticated algorithms and robust design strategies, reflecting the team’s high level of technical and creative competence.
This achievement is a proud moment for MMU and showcases the university’s commitment to nurturing forward-thinking engineers equipped with both technical expertise and collaborative spirit.
Congratulations to Lim Zing, Koh Ming from FAIE and the entire M3 Navigator team for this outstanding accomplishment!
