The FAIE Industry Forum 2025, themed “From Framework to Future: Leveraging AI to Transform Malaysia’s Smart City Vision into Reality,” was held on 20 November 2025 at the NMES Lab, Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya. The event brought together around 200 participants, including students, industry leaders, government agencies, and academic staff.

Jointly organized by the FAIE Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC), IEEE MMU Student Branch, and IEM, in collaboration with PLANMalaysia, MIMOS Berhad, and Dell Technologies, the forum featured insights from Ts. Ir. Dr. Nordin Ramli (MIMOS) and TS Koay (Dell Technologies Malaysia). PLANMalaysia contributed via a recorded presentation by TPr. Dr. Muhammad Hakimi bin Mohd Hussain, and the session was moderated by Ir. Dr. Siva Priya Thiagarajah.

Discussions centered on the Malaysia Smart City Framework, the integration of AI, AIoT, and 5G into urban systems, and the governance and ethical considerations essential for responsible AI deployment. Real-world examples highlighted advancements in emergency response, smart surveillance, traffic optimization, and energy-efficient city management. Speakers emphasized the need for interoperable data systems, robust digital infrastructure, and cultivating future-ready talent equipped for AI-driven innovation.

The forum provided valuable insights that strengthened participants’ understanding of Malaysia’s smart city direction and reinforced the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing AI-enabled urban development.
