FAIE Alumnus Returns to Share Industry Insights on Private 4G/5G Networks
The Faculty of Artificial Intelligence and Engineering (FAIE), in collaboration with the Industrial Linkage Committee (ILC) organised an industrial seminar titled “Private 4G/5G Networks” on 12 June 2025. The session featured Mr. Vinothan Nadarajah, Head of Business Development at CelcomDigi and proud alumnus of the faculty, who graduated with a Bachelor of Electronics majoring in Telecommunications in 2008.
The seminar drew the participation of around 30 students from both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Mr. Vinothan delivered a comprehensive overview of the growing implementation of private 4G and 5G networks in Malaysia, particularly in sectors requiring secure and high-performance connectivity. A highlight of his sharing, included his unique experience deploying private networks on offshore oil platforms, made possible through a specialised operational licence, offering students a rare look into niche industrial applications.
His presence on campus not only provided valuable technical knowledge but also served to motivate and guide aspiring engineers. By reflecting on his journey from FAIE student to industry leader, Mr. Vinothan inspired students to explore the wide range of career possibilities in the mobile cellular and network infrastructure sectors.
