FCI and FIST Students Compete on World Stage at Huawei Global ICT Competition

Selwyn Darryl Kessler, Loo Wei Xiong and Wong Ee Thiing from the Faculty of Computing and Informatics (FCI) and Faculty of Information Science and Technology (FIST) have made our university proud by competing on the world stage at Huawei ICT Competition.  The team, which was led by Dr. Ng Kok Why, Deputy Dean of FCI, has emerged as champions in the Preliminary stage, National stage, and Regional (Asia Pacific) stage of this competition.

On 17th June 2022, the team together with Dr. Ng Kok Why met with the President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud at his office. Prof. Dato’ also shared a few words of encouragement to the students as they competed on the world stage virtually via Shenzhen, China on 18th June 2022. A total of 132 teams from 43 countries and regions participated on the world stage. This competition served as an avenue for students to compete and exchange ideas, boost their ICT knowledge, and foster their capabilities in innovating through new technologies and platforms.

Also attending the meeting were Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Junaidi Abdullah, the dean of FCI and a representative from Huawei. The result of the world stage competition will be broadcasted live via this link on 25th June 2022. We hope that the MMU team will bring our nation and university to greater heights.
