On 17th October 2017, an MMU delegation comprising Prof. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohd Eshaq, our President and Prof. Dr. Hishamuddin Ismail (Vice President, Academic), Mdm. Nur Azurah Rezo (Academic Registrar), together with Mr. Mohamed Shaiedi bin Ishak (Director of International Office) paid a courtesy visit to the Education Malaysia (EMGS) office in Kuala Lumpur.
The purpose of the visit was to greet the new CEO as well as the New COO of EMGS to highlight the challenges faced by MMU in International Student Recruitment. They were hosted by Dato’ Prof. Dr. Rujhan Mustafa (CEO), Mr. Novie Tajudin (COO) and Mr. Mohd Zaki Zakaria (Senior Director).
It was a fruitful visit. The two parties agreed on five items, namely MMU will be allowed to handle its own English Language Proficiency Program; Electronic VAL will be used to expedite the VAL Processing to within 1-2 days only; MMU has been invited by EMGS to join its marketing programs abroad; MMU has been put in touch directly with the top senior EMGS officers to help iron out any difficulties; and EMGS will help minimize the misunderstanding and miscommunication between MMU and Immigration Department of Malaysia.
On 19th October 2017, the same MMU delegation also paid a courtesy visit to the Saudi Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, with the intention of paying their respect to the New Saudi Ambassador in Malaysia. In addition, they sought to share information about the achievements of MMU to date, especially in terms of ranking, and invite more sponsored students from Saudi to come to MMU for undergraduate and postgraduate studies.
The delegation met with the Ambassador, His Excellency Mahmoud Hussien Saeed Qattan. Towards the end of the visit, they were joined by the Saudi Military Attaché and the Principal of the Saudi Arabia School in Kuala Lumpur.
It was another successful visit, with both parties agreeing to follow up with the Saudi Cultural Mission to collaborate on new education packages for students of the Kingdom at MMU.
