MMU continues its initiatives as a trendsetter university as it successfully hosted the 5th International Conference on Information and Communication Technology (ICoICT 2017) at Holiday Inn Hotel, Melaka from 17 to 19 May recently. The conference gave the region’s digital community a much-needed boost in innovation and advancements in the field of information communication technology (ICT) at the global level.
Jointly organised by MMU and Telkom University, Indonesia, the premier conference offered the opportunity to enhance international academic exchange on ICT related topics and to provide a platform for researchers to discuss new problems and solutions. It has attracted more than 200 paper submissions from foreign delegates, such as researchers from Indonesia, Philippines, Australia, South Korea, India, Iran, Thailand, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, Pakistan, Jordan, Morocco, United Kingdom, France, Iraq, Sweden, United States, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore.
The opening of ICoICT 2017 was officiated by Datuk Wira Dr. Abu Bakar Mohamad Diah, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology & Innovation on 17 May. On the second day of the conference, the Chief Minister of Melaka, Datuk Seri Ir. Hj. Idris Hj. Haron, who is also the advisory chair of Asian green growth committee (AGCC) graced the Banquet Dinner, and in his Honorary Speech, Datuk Seri Ir. Hj. Idris applauded ICoICT 2017 for accommodating different research sharings, including traditional paper presentations, poster presentations, tutorials, demos, as well as keynote speeches by renowned educational experts and authorities. Hence, it has enabled academicians, industrials, professionals, and students to exchange knowledge and sharing research findings in the broad scope of coverage of ICT.
he Chief Minister presented the ‘Melaka Green ICT Paper Award’ to the best participant at the banquet dinner. Also present was Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Dr. Sulaiman Mahbob, Chairman of TM & Chairman of MMU; Prof. Datuk Dr. Ahmad Rafi Mohamed Eshaq, President of MMU; and Prof. Dr. Mochamad Ashari, Rector of Telkom University, Indonesia.
