MMU formalised a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UiPath at the Cyberjaya campus on 10 July 2026 to strengthen collaboration in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) education, training, and industry engagement. The ceremony was attended by MMU President, Prof. Dato’ Dr. Mazliham Mohd Su’ud, and Regional Vice President and Managing Director, Southeast Asia of UiPath, Mr. Amit Khandelwal. The signing ceremony was witnessed by the Chief Information Officer (CIO) of TM Group, Mr. Ivan Chong Yew Meng, in recognition of Telekom Malaysia’s Group Information Technology & Digital (TM GITD)’s significant contribution to the successful implementation of the MMU Academic Alliance initiative.

The partnership marks a significant step towards developing future-ready graduates equipped with digital and automation skills to meet the evolving demands of Industry 4.0. The collaboration is further strengthened through the support of TM GITD under the MMU Academic Alliance initiative, with TM GITD serving as the industry enablement partner by contributing enterprise automation expertise, TM-developed RPA learning assets, curriculum enablement, and practical implementation experience to bridge academia and industry.

Through the collaboration, UiPath will support MMU students and educators by providing access to RPA learning resources, certification pathways, and assessment-based incentives aligned with industry standards. The initiative also strengthens curriculum integration through globally recognised RPA competencies and certification frameworks, enabling students to gain practical exposure to automation tools and workflows. Beyond the classroom, both parties will jointly organise awareness programmes, including competitions, hackathons, and experiential learning activities, to foster innovation, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The collaboration will also facilitate internship, graduate recruitment, and career development opportunities through UiPath and its ecosystem partners, further enhancing students’ employability and industry readiness.

Since its launch in 2025, the MMU Academic Alliance initiative has enabled TM GITD to contribute TM-developed RPA course content, support curriculum integration, engage MMU lecturers, and share enterprise automation expertise, leading to the successful implementation of the RPA elective course under MMU’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET). This strategic collaboration reflects the shared commitment of MMU, UiPath, and TM GITD to accelerate digital transformation through education, innovation, and industry collaboration while producing graduates equipped with practical RPA competencies for the future workforce.

Approximately 70 student leaders from Standard 4 to Standard 6 of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seri Sekamat, Maran, Pahang participated in a Knowledge Transfer Programme (KTP) focused on developing leadership and problem-solving skills through the Design Thinking approach.

Led by Ms. Norzarina Md Yatim together with facilitators from the Faculty of Management (FOM), the programme introduced participants to the principles of Design Thinking, enabling them to better understand challenges, explore creative solutions, and apply innovative approaches in addressing situations within their school environment.

Through interactive activities and collaborative discussions, participants were guided through key stages of the Design Thinking process, including empathising with others, identifying challenges, generating ideas, and developing practical solutions. The hands-on learning experience encouraged students to think critically, collaborate effectively, and approach problem-solving with greater confidence.

The initiative aimed to nurture young leaders who are creative, empathetic, and capable of making meaningful contributions to their peers and school community. By introducing Design Thinking at an early age, the programme demonstrated the value of creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking as essential leadership competencies.

Through this community engagement initiative, FOM continued to extend its academic expertise beyond the university by creating meaningful learning opportunities that address community needs while empowering future leaders.

MMU continued its commitment to community engagement and financial well-being through the Knowledge Transfer Programme titled “Financial Health Check-Up and Scam Awareness 2.0”, which was conducted in two locations: Pusat Komuniti Desa Jelintoh, Perak, and Pusat Komuniti Desa Pengkalan Lama, Melaka, in June 2026.

The programme, led by Siti Zarifah binti Amir from the Faculty of Business (FOB), brought together a team of academics comprising Dr. Siti Zakiah Melatu Samsi, Dr. Mohammad Tariqul Islam Khan, Fathiah Athirah Haris, Norashikin Sahadan, Nurul Atiqah Mohd Shukry, and Ummu Umairah Mohd Yunus. The team represented various research centres under the Centre of Excellence (COE) framework, including the Centre for Management and Marketing Innovation, the Centre for Accounting, Finance and Economics, and the Centre for Legal Research, under the COE of Business Innovation and Communication as well as the COE of Sustainability and Governance.

The first session involved 62 participants, mainly housewives, pensioners, and small business owners. Participants were introduced to practical financial planning techniques, including budgeting, financial health assessment, savings strategies, and debt management. The session also highlighted common scam tactics and provided guidance on how to recognise and avoid financial fraud, particularly in today’s digital environment.

A second workshop involved 20 participants comprising single mothers, housewives, pensioners, and small business owners. Despite differences in background, participants actively engaged throughout the session and contributed to an interactive and supportive learning environment.

Across both locations, the programme focused on strengthening participants’ financial knowledge and improving their ability to make informed financial decisions. The initiative reflects MMU’s ongoing efforts to support lifelong learning and community empowerment through targeted knowledge transfer activities.

The programme is part of MMU’s broader commitment to community development through the Office of Knowledge and Technology Transfer (KTT), contributing to enhanced financial awareness, improved economic resilience, and stronger protection against financial scams among local communities.
