Strategic communication is based on advanced understanding of the complexity of human communication processes and environments as well as on systematic research and analysis prior to the development of specific communication strategies. Hence, the Bachelor of Communication (Strategic Communication) (Hons.) is focused on the development of creativity, innovation, analytical and practical knowledge as well as skills directed towards the strategic application of communication to societal issues and organisational objectives. Subjects offered in this programme include, but not limited to:

  • Media Culture
  • Principles of Marketing
  • Public Relations Strategies
  • Semiotic Studies
  • Crisis Communication

Other subjects deal with research planning and evaluation, leadership, current and emerging communication tools, creative expression and innovation analysis of how critical issues develop and come to be defined in society and in specific organisational settings.

A fusion of academic and industry-based collaboration, the programme also culminates in a capstone project in lieu of a thesis and e-portfolio, which serves as a bridge between the academic programme and the organisational context, the classroom and the career world. Entry Requirements

Either of the following:

  • Pass Foundation programme from a recognized institution
  • Pass A Level or its equivalent with 2 Principals
  • Pass Diploma from a recognized institution


  • A minimum score of 5.0 for IELTS or its equivalent

*Candidates not meeting this requirement, may be subjected to an internal review process.

Either of the following:
  • Pass Foundation / Matriculation programme from a recognised institution
  • Pass STPM or its equivalent with 2 principals
  • Pass STAM with minimum grade Jayyid in 2 subjects  and a credit  in English at SPM Level or its equivalent
  • Pass UEC with minimum of grade B in at least five (5) subjects inclusive of English
  • Pass Diploma from a recognised institution
  • Other equivalent qualification recognized by the Malaysian Government


  • A minimum score of band 3 in MUET (or its equivalent)
